Target December Beauty Box

Whoa! For the month of December Target came out with not one but two beauty boxes!

They have one for him and one for her!

Let’s talk about the women’s beauty box first.I’m interested in this box because you get to try the TRESemmé Pre-Wash Conditioner and Shampoo. I also can’t get enough make-up pads and I love anything Nivea. What I find really cool about this box is that they give you something to store it all in!

Target November Beauty Box

Screen Shot 2016-10-31 at 3.01.57 PM.jpg

This month’s Target Beauty box is a $38.00 value. Here’s what is inside:

  • L’Oréal Advanced HairCare Volume Filler Thickening Shampoo – $3.79 for 12.6oz
“This rich formula permeates and expands every strand to make hair look and feel twice as thick.”
  • Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Beautiful Day Cream – $24.99 for 1.7oz
“Alpine rose stem cells, pomegranate, hyaluronic acid and aloe vera nourish, tighten and revive skin on a cellular level.”
  • HASK Keratin Protein Soothing Deep Conditioner – $1.99
“Moisture-rich ingredients work to repair damaged, over-processed hair while helping reduce breakage and static.”
  • Laneige Water Bank Soothing Mask – $25 for 5 masks
“A non-slip sheet mask infused with hydro-ionized mineral water that delivers intense moisture while soothing skin.”

    • I keep getting Laneige brand Water Bank products and I just don’t like them! – BUT, I gave this mask a try as soon as I got my box. It’s a weird two-part mask that covers your entire face. It was way too big and it felt gross when I took it out of the package. I looked at the directions and saw that it was supposed to stay on for 30 minutes and thought there was no way I could keep it on. Surprisingly I kept it on my face for the full 30 minutes and I almost forgot it was there. While I’m pretty sure that it didn’t do anything for my skin it was kind of neat! Overall I would not buy this product.
  • W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick – $23.99 for full size
“This illuminating cream creates an instant glow with premium natural ingredients and organic botanicals.”
  • L’Oréal Voluminous Primer – $5.99
“A lightweight primer that enhances mascara, helping it go on smoothly for visibly longer, thicker lashes.”
  • Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner – $5.99
“A retractable, waterproof pencil (with a built-in sharpener) that keeps lines neat all day long.”

    • I realllly like these! They’re so easy to apply and come in so many colors.

I bought this box because I really wanted to try the W3LL People Bio Brightener Stick, Andalou Day Cream and I can’t resist another eyeliner.

Still Grazing

So as you all may know – I ended up with two graze boxes because I found a great deal on Groupon when you sign up as a new subscriber.

BUT, after receiving this box I canceled my first subscription – not because there is anything wrong with graze. I canceled because I think that 8 snacks a week is too much and I know that 16 is.

The week we received 4 loves, 1 like, and 3 tries. While I would enjoy getting all “loves” every week it makes sense that they have to mix it up. Overall, I’m pleased with the variety of sweet and salty snacks as well.

I really liked this and I didn’t expect to. I dipped the first cookie into the caramel and bit into it and I was pleasantly surprised by the banana flavor. These cookies are soft and kind of melt in your mouth. I’m excited for the next time we get these.

This is yummy – it’s sweet and crunchy. BUT, you could easily find a comparable product at your grocery store and save yourself some money.

EW, what did I eat? To be fair, the toasts are really good. Kind of like a Chex Mix piece. The tapenade is spicy, tangy, and just tastes terrible.

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 5.04.25 AM.jpg

These cookies were good and it paired nicely with the tea!

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 5.05.04 AM.jpg

I wasn’t a fan of the freeze dried apple it was soft and chewy (yes, like anything freeze dried). But, the rest of the nuts were good and I liked the soft gummy “carrot” pieces.

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 5.04.57 AM.jpg

The rice stick was crunchy and what you would expect a rice stick to be. The salsa peanuts were okay they tasted like peanuts covered in salsa. The BBQ pea is hard to eat and hurt my teeth. Overall, not a fan of this snack.

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 5.04.51 AM.jpg

So my boyfriend LOVES pepper. He puts so much pepper on everything that it is ridiculous. I really liked this popcorn. The serving size was awesome compared to other graze offerings. While there wasn’t “enough” pepper on this popcorn it had a great flavor and I bought more from their website.

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 5.04.36 AM.jpg

We got two of these this week (one in the other box). The hazelnut dip was good it tasted similar to Nutella. I wasn’t impressed with the toasts they were small and really crunchy.

Blackberry Margarita

Do you ever just come home from work and really need a drink? I feel like Monday nights usually call for a drink. So go ahead and prepare this for yourself and you won’t regret it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Monin Blackberry Syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz of your favorite Tequila (I’m currently using 1800)
  • 3 oz of your favorite Sweet & Sour Mix
  • Ice
  • Cocktail Shaker
  • If you’re fancy: 5 blackberries to top each drink

How to:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Put each ingredient into the shaker and shake it up! Use the strainer on top to pour into your glass. If you want ice in your drink go ahead and pour that in.
    • I usually kept the ice in my closed cocktail shaker for my next drink. If you make a few of these you can empty an entire ice maker.
  • No cocktail shaker? No problem. Just mix all of these ingredients in a glass with a spoon and then add ice.

September 2016 Birchbox

Screen Shot 2016-09-18 at 8.34.16 PM.jpg

This is my fourth Birchbox and I’m still loving it. While I didn’t receive any products that I particularly love in this box, I am really enjoying the subscription in general. Not to mention that Birchbox has great deals on their website like the Radiant Finish Kit and my soon to be posted review on The Meet Your Mascara kit.

  • JUARA Candlenut Body Creme $38.00
    • This smells amazing. I don’t know how to explain the scent. But I didn’t find it to be moisturizing enough that I would want to spend $38 on it.
  • derma e® Microdermabrasion Scrub $32.50
    • I have VERY sensitive skin but I wanted to give this a try. With my new job I’ve been under a lot of stress and have even had a few pimples pop up. For me, that means it is time to break out a ton of face cleaner and in an attempt to make them disappear. I decided to give this a try and it hurt my skin. It made it red hot and stingy. No I didn’t use any other products before or after this to cause the reaction.
  • Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – Natural Tint – For Brunette to Dark Hair $20.00
    • So I try to avoid dry shampoos at all costs. They just make a mess of my hair. I didn’t realize this was for dark hair and now I’m very interested in trying it. I will return to update my review on this.
  • Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek $24.00
    • I’m not sure what this is supposed to do to your lips. It goes on kind of like lip balm but it smells horrible. I am definitely not adventurous enough to rub this on my already rosy cheeks.
  • Bioderma® Sébium H2O – 500 ml $16.90
    • I haven’t tried this yet and will have to return to update my post.

I tried the Walmart Beauty Box and won’t be repurchasing

Oops I did it again.

I’m really starting to think that I have a problem. But once I saw that the only cost for this box is a $5.00 flat rate shipping fee I had to subscribe!

Walmart sends out seasonal beauty boxes. As each box comes out they send you a reminder email and charge you.

The shipping schedule for the Walmart Beauty Box is as follows:

  • Summer – starting the second week of June
  • Fall -starting the second week of September
  • Winter – starting the second week of December
  • Spring – starting the second week of March

Below is my initial comparison between the Walmart and Target Beauty Boxes.

Walmart:

  • Subscription
  • Won’t miss a box – On August 24th I signed up for the Summer 2016 box which started shipping the second week of June.
  • No cost for box only flat shipping fee of $5.oo

Target:

  • Not a subscription
  • Easy to miss a box – They sell out fast and if you’re not waiting around by a computer at the end of the month.
  • Cost varies monthly

I actually ended up cancelling my Walmart Beauty box subscription before my first box arrived because I was angry that it took forever to ship and I didn’t receive any updates.

I did end up receiving the box but I felt like I wasn’t comfortable paying for something that I couldn’t keep tabs on. Let’s say I got busy and forgot it was coming. I couldn’t even find a place to contact a customer service rep to ask about it.

HOWEVER, I was pretty impressed with how many things come inside (not so much the size though)

WalmartBeauty.jpg

Without further ado – here are the contents of my box:

At the end of the day, this beauty box had way too many foil samples. Is the value over $5? Absolutely. But is a box full of foil packets worth your time? No! They’re super annoying and if its a product that you haven’t tried before you won’t be getting enough to determine if you really like it!

I say skip the Walmart Beauty Box and look elsewhere.

Still Grazing

So as you all may know – I ended up with two graze boxes because I found a great deal on Groupon when you sign up as a new subscriber. So this week I am writing a post about two graze boxes that I received. There was some overlap in the snacks because when I created my new profile I used the same “love” “like” “try” and “trash” ratings.

After receiving these boxes I canceled my first subscription – not because there is anything wrong with graze. I canceled because I think that 8 snacks a week is too many and I know that 16 is.

For this post, I’ve only included new snacks that I haven’t posted about before. If you want to see what other things we have tried, please click here!

The hazelnut dip was good it tasted similar to Nutella. I was impressed with the toasts they were small and really crunchy.

Mmm. I’m not sure about this one. The pita chips are really crunchy, don’t have any flavor. I think I would like it better if they were broken up pieces of tortilla chip. The salsa is really sweet and not what I would expect when I hear red pepper salsa. I didn’t like this at all and logged onto graze right after eating some to change it to “trash”.
